As we continue to set records for rainfall in the Portland Metro Area we are reminded how important a good roof and attic ventilation are to the health of your home. Posted above are a few pictures we have taken recently from roofing jobs we were able to squeeze in between rain showers.

The pictures illustrate three problems that we commonly find:

1) Roofs that are leaking but the leaks are not visible inside the home.

2) Moisture and mold due to bath or kitchen ducting not connected.

3) Insulation that is too tight and not allowing airflow under the roof deck.

The moral of the story is – replace an old roof before it leaks into your home while making sure the ducting in the attic is connected correctly and insulation is not installed tightly againt the roof deck.
