Merry Christmas From Your Roofing Contractor.

It’s that time of year, when the North wind carries the moisture from the ocean and dumps it on the underside of our roof decks. What?? Well, not exactly, but what does happen as the air cools and the mositure content increases is we can get condensation in our attics and especially vaulted areas. This is a great time of year to go into your attic and make sure it is dry. The vaulted areas are a little tougher to inspect.

One thing you can do is make sure the attic area or vaulted area has air flow. That means you should have air intake vents at the bottom of the roof and exhaust vents at the top. Make sure these are not clogged with debris or painted over. If insulation has been added, check to make sure it is not blocking these vents. On vaulted areas, check inside on the ceiling for discolored sheetrock or wood that may indicate mositure caused not by leaks, but by condensation forming in the rafters.

If you have any concerns regarding any of the things we discussed above, call a professional roofing contractor out to inspect these areas with you. Oh and by the way, most importantly… have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
