Residential and Commercial Roofing Installations: Part I

The
first step to a successful roof installation is starting the planning process early.
Don’t get yourself into a position that forces you into making quick decisions.
Most roofs are not replaced because they are leaking, they are replaced because
the responsible owner believes that the roof’s life is short lived. Similar to having
a flat tire in the middle of nowhere due to the tires being in poor condition,
its much easier to replace a deteriorated roof in nice weather than in the
middle of winter with heavy rain on the way.

Begin
by looking your roof over, either from the ground with a pair of binoculars, or
if the roof is safely accessible, from the roof itself.  You’re not a roof expert, but you can educate
yourself on how your roof currently looks so that you can discuss intelligently
with what your roof estimator finds.

Now
your either convinced that your roof must be done this year or you are still
unsure
how may more years it may last. Time to call in a professional roofing
estimator.

Remember,
roof inspections and bids are generally free to the homeowner, but there not
free to the company providing the inspection. So start by choosing one reputable
company, one with good reviews on Google, Angie’s List and a clean CCB report.

section, setting a roofing inspection appointment and which questions to ask.
