Roofing Warranties – Too Good to be True (part II)?

In Part 1 we discussed how the roofing material manufactures are now offering warranties that are not accurate or truthful about the amount of time their products will last. We discussed the many ways they may get out of a warranty and the small amount of money the manufacture may actually be responsible for.

Below we are going to try and make sense out of the composition shingle products and warranties and which quality makes sense for you. One way to select a product based on your needs is using the chart below:

Life Desired: Product Warranty Stated

15-20 Years 30 years to Lifetime

20-25 Years 40 Years to Lifetime

25-30 Years 50 Years to Lifetime

30-35 Years Lifetime

So here’s the tricky part, how do you know which lifetime shingle is going to last 20 years and which one will last 35 years? You don’t. That is where we come in, you know, the guy or gal with 30 years roofing experience who you can trust. We will gladly show you which manufactures and which brands correspond to the life expectancy you are looking for. Not the easy answer I wish we could give, but paying for another roof again in 15 years is a big waste of money and material.

Purchasing a new roof is a big investment. Take your time and work with someone who has been in business for a long time and can provide you with solid information. Try calling Cascade Roofing Portland – since 1959 – 60 years of serving the Portland, Tigard, Beaverton and Hillsboro area.
