Choosing a Roofing Company.

The title of this blog could also have been: How to choose a roofing product from a manufacture who won’t mislead you?

The pictures above were taken from a 12 year old roof that has a 40 year written warranty from the manufacture. The actual roofing product appears to have been failing from the day it was installed.

Now what. Well, the best thing to do is to call the roofing contractor that installed it. It’s only been 12 years, is he or she still in business? How long had they been in business when you hired them to install your 40 year roof? Step 1: hire a roofing company that has been in business as long or longer then the roofing product is expected to last.

That brings us to Step 2. When you were selecting your new roof, did the contractor give you a realistic idea how long the shingles would really last, or did he or she just read off what the shingle manufacture promised? You see, a 30 year product 30 years ago lasted about 30 years. Now it lasts about 15-20 years. A lifetime product was never available as a roofing option 30 years ago because it would have been untruthful, or in other words, lying.

Step 3: OK, so how do you know which manufacture is best and which is the right choice for you? There are lots of variables to consider when selecting a product. This is where the professional and trusted roofing installer comes in handy. Based on your needs and variables such as wind, potential debris on roof, visibility, and budget, you should get a detailed response to which manufacture is best for your situation.

There is no one size fits all, but there is a person who can determine your needs and recommend the best fit: Your experienced, trusted and ESTABLISHED roofing professional. Call someone who has the expertise to help guide you through the roofing maze.
